Meltdown
I am currently hard at work writing a third novel in the Jake Walker series. My working title is Meltdown.
Jake Walker returns to his life in the US, but what life? He has money, but the idea of sitting on a beach and watching his investments doesn't appeal. He realises that his life since leaving the Army has been empty. He has few friends, no love life and his exploits in Slovenia with his former Special Forces mates reinforce that he misses the camaraderie and friendships that can only be forged in battle. He goes to Montana to stay with an old friend to work out a way forward. Jake knows his exploits in Seconds from Impact and Rendition have made him some enemies, but nothing prepares him for the plan hatched by a young Russian, Misha, with the help of a wealthy Saudi Prince. President Watson is in the final years of his presidency and he is dismayed at how unpopular he is. Blinded by his own greatness, things are starting to fall apart and he blames everyone, but himself. When a new terror threat emerges, the toughest the country has faced since 9-11, he sees an opportunity to save his nation and his presidency. He calls upon Jake Walker first to negotiate and then, when the alert levels rise, to crack open the terror cell and avert the biggest catastrophe his country has ever faced. Unlike 9-11 though, it's not just a few lives this time, if the terrorists succeed, billions could die and the US would descend into chaos and anarchy. Jake knows the risks to his life, but his love for his country and the call of his President are irresistible. He hears the call and is re-recruited, swears allegiance to his flag for the second time and enters a game where the stakes are too high to jump over. Well, almost. Can you resist another Jake Walker novel? Release date - 2018... |
